The text requires correction of:
- Grammar and spelling
- Comma placement
- Capitalizations
- Citations
- Adherence to German Rechtschreibung rules
Ideal skills include:
- Native German proficiency
- Strong command of German grammar and syntax
- Strong command of correct citation form
- Experience with historical 19th-century texts
- Sensitivity to maintaining the original author's voice
- Attention to detail
The project involves keeping the original text intact as much as possible, while making necessary grammar and other changes to give a smooth reading experience. Some continued use of older terminology and phrasing is intentional. The original text is just under 50,000 words, plus another 10,000 words for additional book portions (front matter, several short essays, captions).
