Copyedit High School History Textbook
Budget: ₹4,500 – ₹5,000 INR
I have a full draft of a history textbook aimed at today’s high-school classroom, and it has already been through basic fact-checking. What it still needs is a meticulous copy edit. The goal is to polish every sentence for grammar, punctuation, clarity, and consistency, while preserving the engaging voice that keeps teenage readers interested.
The manuscript is organised into thematic chapters with sidebars, timelines, and source excerpts. During copy editing, I’d like special attention paid to:
• Consistent use of terminology and dates across chapters
• Smooth transitions between primary-source quotes and narrative text
• Uniform application of style rules for headings, footnotes, and bibliography (Chicago style is preferred)
Deliverables
1. A version with tracked changes showing all edits and queries
2. A final, clean file ready for layout in both Word and PDF
3. A brief style sheet summarising key conventions used
Edits should be completed in Microsoft Word; if you also work comfortably in Google Docs, that’s a plus because my teaching team may leave final comments there. Turnaround time is flexible within reason, but I’d like to discuss a realistic schedule that allows for one round of author review after your first pass.
