Budget: $250 – $750 USD
Overview:
I am looking for a freelance recipe developer to help me taste test and refine smoothie recipes.
Candidate experience:
Previous substantial experience in smoothie or broader functional-beverage R&D. A nutrition background is a big plus.
Scope:
1. Recipe development: I’ll share the current recipes and you’ll test, taste, record detailed sensory notes (sweetness, acidity, viscosity, aroma, after-taste), then propose precise tweaks. We’ll rinse and repeat until I think the flavour is spot-on.
2. Equipment guidance: Alongside recipe tweaks, I’ll need advice/guidance on what would be the best and most suitable blenders to use for my recipes, and especially to the extent they might impact the recipe as different blenders produce different results. Recipes need to factor these types of details in.
Deliverables:
1. Versioned, ready-to-blend smoothie recipes.
Each recipe should be delivered in a clear, version-controlled format and include, at a minimum:
i. Full ingredient list
ii. Precise quantities for a defined serving size
iii. Methodology, including blending speed, blending time, and order of ingredient addition
iv. Sensory notes describing the taste profile (e.g. sweetness, acidity, texture, mouthfeel)
v. Practical notes or tips for adjusting taste or texture, where relevant
vi. Any additional practical guidance deemed helpful continuous recipe enhancement and for repeatable preparation
2. Iterative refinement
Recipes will be refined through iterative rounds of taste testing and feedback. Iterations will continue until the recipe meets the desired standard for flavour, texture, and overall drinkability, as determined by me.
3. Collaboration & communication
Collaboration will take place via shared documents, in-person sessions during weekends and if needed short video catch-ups, as needed.
We will start with a fixed fee for 2 smoothies as a test scope.
If the testing phase goes well, the scope will be expanded to include to additional smoothies and we will discuss updated scope coverage and pricing at that time.
