I’m preparing the next phase of a regional water-infrastructure upgrade and need an Australian-based engineer or consultant to take full ownership of the switchboard design. While valve actuation and PLC/SCADA integration sit in the background, the switchboard itself is the primary focus and must be engineered to interface cleanly with those systems from day one.

Scope of work
You will develop the complete switchboard design package in line with Australian Standards for potable-water networks and the specific requirements of the local utility. That includes schematics, GA drawings, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, protection calculations, and a concise integration strategy that shows how the board will drive existing valve actuators and exchange data with the site’s PLC/SCADA platform (Allen-Bradley CompactLogix, FactoryTalk View SE).

Key deliverables
• Issued-for-design drawing set (PDF + native CAD)
• Verified BOM with manufacturer part numbers and lead times
• Functional description covering I/O mapping, control philosophy, and SCADA tags
• Compliance statement referencing AS 61439 and relevant utility standards
• Brief commissioning checklist for our on-site team

We are looking for an Australian-based engineer or consultant with strong experience in valve actuation, PLC/SCADA systems, and switchboard design for a water infrastructure project.

The work involves designing a control solution for existing valves in a dam valve pit, including:

valve actuator selection and integration,

PLC/SCADA architecture,

I/O and communications design,

switchboard/panel design,

remote operation,

emergency operation in the event of power loss.

The selected person must be able to work in line with Australian standards and regulations, and ideally have experience with water / dam / pump station infrastructure.
