hello i am building a house in coral gables
i hired a roofing contractor to install a hot mop roofing system

we agreed on a price of $5.50c a sq ft for the job
amd signed an agreement for the entire roof

there is an agreement signed but no clear indication of the sq ft price

it is taken for granted and agreed that at the end of the project we would measure exactly the footage of the project as when we signed the agreement the roof trusses were not up yet

after completion of the job the inspector failed the inspection due to the overflow drains not being in the correct position clearly stated in the contract that roofer GC must know the codes obviously

as soon as i called him to tell him we failed he demanded payment

obviously i refused amd then immediately went to measure his measurements against his invoices

turned out he was 30% over on his measurement

now we obviously in disagreement but i have measured 3 times and it’s obvious he has tried to overcharge me

now he wants to charge me for fixing his mistakes and has missed 3 appointments to measure

i need advice on how to proceed

i would like to do a change of contractor so i can fix and get city approval asap
