Role Description:

My Smart House LLC is on the hunt for a seasoned Contract Attorney with deep expertise in Labor and Employment Law to join our team in Murrieta, CA. This is a contract role with flexibility for some remote work. The selected candidate will be pivotal in guiding us through various labor and employment challenges, with a particular focus on representing My Smart House in an active legal dispute involving wage and meal break violations claimed by a former employee, Anthony Carini.

In addition to defending the company in this dispute, the attorney will be responsible for providing legal advice primarily on employee termination issues, workplace discrimination claims, employment contracts, and navigating general employment law matters. The role includes offering strategic legal counsel, conducting comprehensive research, negotiating contracts when necessary, and representing My Smart House in relevant legal matters.

Key Responsibilities:

Defend My Smart House against labor law violation claims, including wage and meal break disputes.
Provide legal advice on employee terminations, workplace discrimination, and employment contracts.
Conduct legal research to support case defense and company employment policies.
Represent My Smart House in settlement negotiations and other legal proceedings.
Collaborate with the Legal Compliance Officer and internal paralegal support to prepare legal documents and case strategies.
Negotiate contracts when required.
Skills and Experience:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree and license to practice law in the state of California.
Proven expertise in Labor and Employment Law.
Strong experience in handling employee termination, workplace discrimination, and employment contract matters.
Proficient in conducting legal research and developing case strategies.
Experience in negotiating contracts is a plus.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaborate with internal teams as needed.
Compensation:

$5,000 retainer with an hourly rate of $200.
Flexibility in hours, with internal paralegal support to assist with case management and document preparation.
