We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented grant proposal writer to help secure funding for the expansion of a Black-owned (Minority) indoor children's play area and interactive arcade center located in Rochester, New York.
We'll serve the Monroe County community with a safe, clean, interactive entertainment space that combines active play, arcade games, and private event hosting.
The ideal candidate will research, identify, and write compelling funding proposals tailored to local economic development grants, black-owned/minority grants, small business growth funding, and family/youth development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
• Grant Research: Identify federal, New York State (NYS), regional, and private foundation grant opportunities applicable to indoor family entertainment, youth recreation, black-owned or local small businesses.
• Proposal Writing: Draft clear, persuasive, and data-driven grant proposals, including the statement of need, project description, community impact, and organizational background.
• Budget Alignment: Help structure and refine our financial request to match the specific requirements of each funding body.
• Submission Readiness: Edit, proofread, and assemble all necessary documentation into a turnkey package ready for submission.
Target Audience & Location Focus
• Location: Rochester, NY (Monroe County). Familiarity with the NYS Finger Lakes regional economic landscape or local Rochester development grants is a major plus.
• Impact Focus: Highlighting local job creation, community health/wellness through active play, and providing accessible recreational spaces for Rochester families.
Project Deliverables
1. A curated list of 4–6 high-potential grant opportunities with deadlines and eligibility requirements.
2. One comprehensive master grant proposal template (approx. 1,500–2,500 words) that can be easily adapted for different applications.
3. Tailored Letters of Intent (LOI) for foundation grants if required.
Required Skills and Qualifications
• Proven track record of successful grant writing (please provide portfolio examples or success rates if possible).
• Experience writing grants for small businesses, commercial recreation, or youth-focused entities.
• Exceptional English writing, editing, and storytelling skills to convey community impact.
• Strong adherence to deadlines and clear communication throughout the project.
