Comedic Trading Card Writers Needed — Gross-Out Humor, Racing Theme, Card Credit Included
Budget: $500 – $1,500 USD
We are building a writer room for an original gross-out trading card series set in the world of American dirt track racing. Think caricature humor — irreverent, affectionate, funny for all ages. Series 1 launches with the Gross-Out tier — 43 characters — and we are hiring writers to write them. We have a fully developed style guide, card template, and brand voice document ready to share from day one.
What makes this different:
Every writer receives a permanent printed credit on each card they write. Your name appears on the card itself, in the series character dictionary, and on product packaging. This is a real physical product going to print — your name goes with it.
What you'll write per character:
- One-line archetype (the character's defining trait in a single punchy sentence)
- Artist imagery notes (a visual brief for the illustrator — what the card art should show)
- 100-150 word biography in brand voice — irreverent, funny, affectionate roast energy, all ages
- One Fast Fact (single sentence, the most memorable or absurd thing about this character)
- Five stat labels with ratings
The voice:
Not crude. Not mean. Think small-town county fair meets gross-out comic book — characters are ridiculous but lovable. We have a fully developed style guide, brand voice document, and character template to share with every writer from day one.
Project structure:
- Writers work in batches of 10-20 characters
- Fixed price per character — rate open to discussion based on portfolio
- Full style guide and character template provided at project start
- Motorsports knowledge is a plus but absolutely not required — the humor is universal
To apply:
Send a portfolio sample of comedic or character-based writing. We will provide a one-character test prompt — short, unpaid, just enough to confirm voice fit before we commit to a batch.
