Animal Board Book for Toddlers
Budget: $250 – $750 USD
I’m putting together a sturdy little board book for children aged 0-3 and I need a writer who can distill big wonder into very few words. The story should revolve around animals in their natural habitats—think gentle, sensory language that highlights textures, sounds, and movements a toddler can easily recognise and imitate.
The finished manuscript will be short—around 100–150 words total, broken across 10–12 spreads—yet every line must invite interaction, read-aloud fun, and a sense of calm suitable for snuggle time. While I’m not looking for formal rhyme, a pleasing rhythm and repeatable phrases are important to keep little listeners engaged.
Please include light art notes that suggest what might appear on each spread (nothing prescriptive, just enough to guide an illustrator on focal animals, colours, or simple nature settings). The text must be entirely original and developmentally appropriate, avoiding complex sentence structures or abstract ideas.
I’ll review for:
• Clear, engaging language that fits a 0-3 audience
• Consistent animal-and-nature thread from first page to last
• A warm, soothing cadence that encourages repeat readings
Deliver the manuscript in an editable document so layout adjustments are easy on my end. If you’ve crafted board books before—or have samples that show how you write for the very young—please make sure I can read them when you send your proposal.
