Ancient Indian Stories for Children

I’m putting together an engaging, fully illustrated story collection that brings real events from Ancient India to life for readers aged 9–12. Rather than retelling mythological epics, I want historically grounded adventures—think Chanakya’s clever diplomacy, Ashoka’s transformation after Kalinga, or the scientific wonders of Takshashila—told in a way that feels as exciting as any legend while remaining fact-based.

Here’s what I’m after:
• 6–8 short stories (approx. 800 words each) focused on key historical moments or personalities of Ancient India.
• Kid-friendly language with a clear narrative arc, relatable dialogue, and a gentle moral takeaway.
• One vivid illustration per story, plus a two-line “image poem” caption that encapsulates the scene and can double as back-of-book copy.
• A brief historical note at the end of each piece citing your sources so parents and teachers know the material is accurate.

You may handle both writing and artwork yourself or collaborate with an illustrator you trust; if you prefer to deliver only the text, let me know so I can arrange separate art support. Final files should arrive print-ready (300 dpi JPEGs or layered PSDs for images, editable DOCX for text).

I’ll review the first completed story as a milestone to confirm tone, pacing, and factual depth before you move on. Once all stories meet that standard, the project is complete and ready for layout.
