Academic Content Editor / Word-Count Reduction Specialist
We are seeking an experienced academic editor to reduce an existing academic document from approximately 13,000 words to around 6,000 words while preserving academic quality, clarity, and intent.
This is not a rewrite. The task is to strategically condense and refine the existing content.
Scope of Work
• Reduce total word count from ~13,000 to ~6,000 words
• Maintain:
• Original meaning, arguments, and academic intent
• Existing AI contribution level (do not increase AI-generated content)
• Original references and citations (must remain intact and correctly placed)
• Ensure:
• Similarity index below 10% (excluding references, as per academic standards)
• Academic tone suitable for postgraduate
• Logical flow and coherence throughout
• Remove:
• Redundant explanations
• Repetitive content
• Excessive elaboration without loss of substance
Key Requirements
• Proven experience in academic editing and content reduction
• Strong understanding of plagiarism and similarity reduction techniques
• Ability to apply content prioritization (80/20 principle)
• Excellent command of formal academic English
• Comfortable handling long-form academic documents
