Video Content Strategist & Storyline Director for Youth Orientation Recap Series
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
Project Overview
We recently completed a powerful, week-long orientation event for over 1,000 youth and young adults as part of the Newark Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). The event spanned five days and included interactive workshops, group activities, testimonials, and powerful moments of youth growth and engagement.
We captured hours of raw video footage and photos—from youth entering the building to them leading discussions, engaging in sessions, laughing with peers, and sharing heartfelt testimonials. Now, we need help turning all of this incredible footage into a series of polished, professional, story-driven videos that reflect the full energy and impact of this historic orientation.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking a Video Content Strategist and Director — someone with creative vision and strong post-production planning skills who can help us turn our footage into a suite of compelling videos. This person won’t be editing the footage directly, but will:
Review and organize raw video clips and photos (sorted by day/theme)
Develop the concepts, structure, and vision for each type of video
Write out clear, detailed editing instructions for our video editor to follow
Recommend tools or enhancements (audio clean-up, color correction, transitions, etc.)
Help us create a professional video storytelling strategy that maximizes our footage
Your Role Will Include
✔️ Reviewing folders of videos and photos from 5 orientation days
✔️ Creating a breakdown of which clips/photos to use for each type of video
✔️ Designing the storyboard or sequence for the following:
Daily Recap Videos (5 total) – 1–2 minutes each
Full Week Recap Video – 4–6 minutes, shows the full arc of the week
Testimonial Video(s) – Compiling youth voice and reflections
Social Media Micro-Highlights – 30–60 sec reels for IG/TikTok
Behind-the-Scenes or Impact Montage (optional)
✔️ Writing up clear, step-by-step editing instructions for our video editor
✔️ Advising us on best practices to enhance video quality or upgrade lower-res footage
✔️ Helping ensure emotional impact and creative energy are captured in every video

Eye for storytelling, emotional pacing, and youth-centered content
Understanding of what makes content effective across YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok
Bonus: Experience improving smartphone-captured video or directing editors to do so
Timeline
