Are you our new fiction editor?
Budget: £250 – £750 GBP
We are looking for a versatile editor with a taste for delving into the material and a hands-on attitude. Your task will be to actively take part in the story writing, putting on the finishing touches and adding that touch of brilliance.
Your abilities and tasks:
High Quality English – Native English
Conversant in many genres (romance – clean and steamy, children’s stories, teen stories, crime/thrillers, ghost stories, and more).
Flexible, ready to work as part of a team:
1. Giving feedback to writers, taking time to understand the vision of each project, but most importantly also being prepared to rewrite scenes and improve the text yourself.
2. Working closely with the business owner to capture their vision of each book and sparring on plot points.
Checking for cohesion and flow of the storyline and readiness to add new plot scenes and/or improving plot points – to create a vibrant story.
Enrichment of characters through adding extra dialogue and descriptions
Strong understanding of pacing and tone, mixing of dialogue and descriptions to move the story along and hold on to the reader’s interest.
Attention to detail: strong knowledge of grammar and ability to ensure that the text has correct use of grammar, spelling and punctuation.
We will be starting off with a trial project: a 27,000-word romantic novel with steamy passages. Upon successful co-operation during this first project, we will look at longer-term co-operation.
Who will you be working for?
Currently a small author/entrepreneur/publisher looking to grow in fiction and non-fiction (using in-house personal writing, ghost writing and guest writing). The main focus is the US and Canadian market and as a secondary market all English speaking markets. We are looking to strengthen the current team, and you will function as the pillar of knowledge for quality of plot and excellent content.
What’s next?
As a first project, we want to get to know you. The first task is hands-on editing of a 27,000-word romantic novel.
Please quote the words Toasted Marshmallow in your motivation letter.
Please send your best price for completion of the project.
Explain why you are interested in this project.
Which abilities and what experience do you have that makes you the best choice?
When can you start? And what kind of timeline can you work to?
DO NOT APPLY FOR THIS POSITION IF ENGLISH IS NOT YOUR NATIVE TONGUES
