Project Title
Database Design & SQL Implementation – Content Management System for Movies and Series (Access Control & User Groups)
Project Description
I am looking for a database developer or DBMS expert to help design and implement a Content Management Database System for managing movies, series, and episodic content with hierarchical user groups and multi-level access control.
This project simulates a real-world digital content platform (similar to a streaming service backend) and focuses on ER modeling, relational schema design, and SQL implementation.
Scope of Work
1. Database Design
Create a complete ER Diagram including:
Content (Movies & Series)
Series and Episodes
Users
User Groups (with nested group hierarchy)
Access Levels
Reviews and Ratings
Content Permissions
2. Relational Schema
Design normalized tables with:
Primary Keys
Foreign Keys
Constraints for hierarchical groups and nested access levels
Episode-level and series-level permissions
3. SQL Implementation
Write SQL CREATE TABLE scripts
Insert sample data
Provide advanced queries, such as:
Show all content accessible to a specific user based on group membership and access level
Retrieve series and episodes with different permission levels
User reviews and ratings for accessible content only
Key Features Required
Support for single content (movies) and series with multiple episodes
Access levels that can be independent or nested
User groups that can contain users and/or other groups
Groups that can be defined as group-only (no direct users)
Episode-level and series-level access control
Review and rating system with permission checks
Deliverables
ER Diagram (PDF or image)
Relational Schema Documentation
SQL Files (DDL + Sample Queries)
Sample Dataset
Explanation Document (for academic submission)
Timeline
Flexible — preferably within 5–7 days
Skills Required
Database Design (ER Modeling)
SQL (MySQL / PostgreSQL / Oracle)
Normalization & Constraints
Academic Documentation
Budget
Open to reasonable offers (student academic project)
