Across Worcestershire rising levels of poverty, homelessness and hardship are putting growing pressure on frontline services. Charities like ours are stepping up to meet these challenges with practical community based support.
Based in Upton upon Severn we offer help to people experiencing homelessness, financial crisis or trauma across Worcestershire.
We respond to both urgent needs and the root causes of poverty by providing meaningful employment opportunities respecting the dignity to those in need. Our model combines meaningful employment with intensive personalised support; we recognise that a stable home can be the foundation for lasting change.
We pride ourselves on our position in the community, our shop is just one layer of what we do, and is built around repurposing and reselling donated items. We give pre loved items a new life which generates vital income to support our work. The shop offers unique and attractive, repurposed items that strengthen financial stability within the community as well as reducing landfill and waste.
Our services are delivered via outreach on the streets of Worcestershire. This enables us to support individuals who are experiencing homelessness and may not be engaging with other service providers. Our focus is engaging people as early as possible trying to prevent anybody from spending a night on the streets.
Outreach is vital for our success, which is why we have launched our new target for fundraising in 2026 – we are trying to establish a catering trailer in Worcester that will not only provide hot drinks and food on a “Take what you need.......pay if you can” basis, but will also provide us with an opportunity to introduce our services to those in need.
With over 170 people classified as homeless and 4360 on the waiting list for suitable accommodation, Worcester is at breaking point. There never has been a more urgent need for our support in Worcester. Please help us to help those in need.
Please provide examples of similar work done and any strategies you would employ.
