Freelance Structural Steel Detailer – Shop Drawing Production

V. Paulius & Associates is seeking a freelance steel detailer to produce fabrication-ready shop drawings based on structural permit drawings for commercial/industrial projects. The scope includes structural steel (columns, beams, girders, plates, angles, bracing) as well as miscellaneous steel (embeds, steel stairs, framing components, etc.). This role involves interpreting structural design intent and developing complete, coordinated shop drawing sets suitable for estimates, fabrication, and installation.

Responsibilities:
- Review structural permit drawings and translate into shop/fabrication drawings
- Detail columns, beams, base plates, bracing, connections, steel stairs, embeds, misc. steel, etc.
- Coordinate bolt patterns, connection types, and material specifications with team
- Ensure clarity and constructability of all drawings per industry and fabrication standards
- Collaborate with in-house engineers or respond to RFI-style questions, as needed

Qualifications:
- Proven experience in steel detailing for structural and misc. components
- Strong understanding of AISC standards, fabrication tolerances, and shop drawing conventions
- Ability to work independently and deliver clean, fabrication-ready drawing sets
- Familiarity with commercial/industrial building systems a plus
