Convert Bedroom Into Office & Room
Budget: £20 – £250 GBP
I need professional help to turn a single bedroom in my house into two completely separate spaces: one will remain a cosy bedroom, the other must function as a dedicated office/ spare bedroom. My main requirement is a permanent wall that will both divide the space and give each room its own privacy and sound isolation.
The existing bedroom is a simple rectangle with one window and a single door. I’d like guidance on the best wall placement so each new room feels balanced and gets natural light. Because the new office will be used daily, I’ll also rely on you to make sure there are enough power outlets and network points on that side, and that the new wall meets local building codes.
please see floor plan attached - we would like bedroom two to be split
I’m open to recommendations on:
• Framing materials, drywall thickness, and insulation that will cut noise between the rooms without driving up cost.
• Door style and location for each room so movement feels natural.
• Any minor electrical or lighting relocations needed as a result of the split.
Deliverables I expect:
1. A quick on-site survey (virtual is fine at first) with measurements and a basic sketch or floor plan marking the proposed wall line and doorways.
2. A work plan detailing materials, estimated timeline, and any permitting steps.
3. Complete construction of the permanent wall, finished, painted, and ready for use—no rough edges left behind.
4. Final walk-through and punch-list resolution.
If you have experience in small-scale residential remodels, especially room splits like this, please share examples. I’m ready to start as soon as we finalise the layout.
