I have a steady flow of London-area house renovations and I’m looking for a freelance estimator who truly knows the UK market. Your background as a site manager (or similar hands-on role) should have given you an instinctive feel for real labour rates, gang sizes, prelims and the on-site realities that never show up in textbooks.
The core of the job is simple: turn architects’ drawings and specifications into a fully broken-down Price A Job estimate that covers labour, materials and preliminaries for typical house refurbishments, extensions and loft conversions. Because nearly all of my current projects are full-house schemes, strong experience with houses is essential.
What you’ll deliver
• A Price A Job file (or export) with every item costed and grouped by trade.
• A concise summary sheet showing total build cost, contingency and any exclusions.
• Clarifications or RFI list if drawings/specs are incomplete.
You must
• Be UK-based and up to date with regional material prices and labour rates.
• Have at least two years of daily Price A Job use.
• Bring genuine site experience; without it, the numbers rarely stack up.
When you reply, tell me about the house projects you’ve priced, how long you’ve used Price A Job and your rate structure (fixed per project or hourly with an estimate of typical hours). Links or samples that demonstrate past estimates will speed things up.
