Experienced Construction Tender Consultant / Estimator – Fire Door & Passive Fire Projects (UK Public Sector)
About Us:
SAB Construction Ltd is a family-run Passive Fire Protection specialist based in the UK.
We are fully accredited with BM TRADA (Q-Mark Fire Stopping), CHAS, and Constructionline Gold.
Our work focuses on fire door installation, maintenance, and compartmentation / fire-stopping within local authority, NHS, education, and housing association buildings.
We are now expanding into public sector mini-tenders and tenders up to £150,000, and we are looking for a dedicated professional to handle tender preparation and pricing on an ongoing basis.
Scope of Work:
We need a specialist who can take full responsibility for preparing and submitting high-quality tenders and pricing submissions on our behalf.
You will work directly with our director and technical team.
Typical tasks include:
Reviewing tender documents, specifications, and schedules of work (BoQs).
Preparing accurate pricing using our labour/material rates (fire doors, ironmongery, intumescent products, sealants, etc.).
Completing all PQQ/SQ and ITT documentation (method statements, technical responses, compliance forms, social value, etc.).
Advising on bid/no-bid decisions, timeframes, and clarifications.
Submitting tenders via relevant e-portals (ProContract, Delta, EU-Supply, In-Tend, Atamis).
Creating a library of standard responses for re-use (health & safety, quality, environment, social value).
Ensuring all documentation meets public sector compliance and formatting standards.
Essential Requirements:
Proven experience completing UK construction/public sector tenders under £500k (essential).
Strong knowledge of fire door or passive fire protection projects.
Understanding of NHS / local authority / housing / education tendering requirements.
Familiarity with UK e-tender portals (ProContract, Delta eSourcing, Atamis, In-Tend, EU-Supply).
Excellent written English and technical writing ability.
Ability to work to tight deadlines (2–5 days typical turnaround).
Experience preparing cost breakdowns and pricing schedules in Excel.
Available for ongoing work (2–3 tenders per month initially).
Preferred:
Background as a Construction Estimator, Quantity Surveyor, or Bid Writer.
Knowledge of CPV codes and Procurement Act 2023 requirements.
Access to tender software or templates (advantage).
