Off-Site Steel QA QC Specialist

Job ID: 40223151

Budget: $15 – $25 USD

The task centres on material quality control for every steel and metal element that comes onto the project during the active build. Mill certificates, weld consumables, bolted connections, surface treatments and finished member dimensions all have to be verified against project specifications, ASTM standards and our ISO 9001-aligned quality plan while the crews keep working.

Daily presence on site—or a clearly defined remote inspection routine that still captures real-time data—is essential so that any non-conformance is caught before installation. Ultrasonic, magnetic-particle or dye-penetrant testing may be required for critical welds; coordinate these tests, witness them where necessary and record the findings. The role also involves liaising with the site engineer, fabricator and third-party lab to close out corrective actions quickly and feed transparent information to the client’s independent verifier.

Deliverables
• Signed daily inspection sheets and photographic evidence
• Collated material test report (MTR) review summary
• Non-conformance register with status tracking until close-out
• Weekly dashboard highlighting trends and high-risk items
• Final compliance dossier ready for hand-over

Acceptance criteria: all documents accepted by the verifier, no open NCRs at hand-over, and written confirmation that installed steel meets project specification and relevant codes.
