Building Envelope Take-Offs
Budget: $8 – $15 CAD
My workload of commercial projects calls for precise exterior envelope quantity take-offs on a regular basis. For every set of drawings I send, I need a clear, organized package that lets me price and order materials without second-guessing the numbers.
Scope of work
• Perform detailed digital take-offs for ACM, metal wall panels , metal roof panels, insulation, sub-framing, vapor barriers, and insulated wall panels.
• Produce highlighted wall elevations (PDF) so any estimator or installer can see exactly where each item was captured.
• Deliver a consolidated bill of materials that includes:
– Item quantities
– Material specifications
– Cost estimates
What matters to me
Accuracy comes first—miscounts cost real money. Speed is a close second, as bid deadlines are tight. Familiarity with take-off tools such as Planswift, Bluebeam Revu, or On-Screen Takeoff will make the process smoother, but any reliable workflow is fine as long as the numbers check out.
Workflow
I’ll provide drawing sets for each commercial project. You return the highlighted elevations and BOM, we review, and then move on to the next job. If everything lines up, this becomes ongoing work with a steady stream of projects.
