Steel Beam Roof Reinforcement

I’m preparing to remove a corner post that currently carries part of my roof and replace its support with two horizontal steel beams. One beam will reinforce the existing timber beam that spans the eaves; that span is roughly 5m, so the steel will need to work as a composite. The second beam will run perpendicular to it, tying the roof corner back to a nearby rock face where it will bear partially on the stone before transferring load to the remaining structure.

What I need from you:
• Size selection for both steel beams.
• Maybe connection details between steel and timber, steel and rock, and steel to the adjoining wall plates.
• Verification calculations showing capacity under dead load (roof self-weight provided once you engage) and maybe typical wind loads for a residential roof.

I’ll supply site photos, the roof weight, and a dimensioned plan as soon as we start. Please base all work on Eurocode or AISC—whichever you’re most comfortable with—and keep the file format editable (PDF plus native calc sheet).

Deliverables are accepted once the calculations close the load path, the beam sizes meet code deflection limits, and the details are clear enough for fabrication without further RFIs.
