Machine on a Mission Concept Art/Storyboards
Budget: $1,500 – $3,000 CAD
I'm developing a virtual reality immersive theater production that consists of a series of escape room-like collaborative puzzles which take place in surreal virtual worlds and which unlock an anthology of spoken word poetry performances. Machine on a Mission is one of the poems and as part of the development process, I want to commission some hybrid concept art storyboards representing the environment, the characters, narrative and gameplay.
I'd like to start with 5 sketches to make sure we're communicating and working well together. In that case I'd get the other 8 sketches done and then want to take all 13 to a more polished level—but still concept images, not photoreal. The purpose is both for a project proposal deck and as design reference for a 3D asset creation team. They don't need orthographic views for any of the assets.
The full set of frames would be (ones with * to be tackled in the first round):
° Low-wide shot of living room, with 5 dolls standing in FG and family on sofa transfixed by giant television *
° Front-on shot of the family on the sofa, their eyes reflecting back the TV content
° Over-the-shoulder, reverse angle on TV
° Sequence of 3 frames from the same high-wide angle, as family grow fatter and amazon boxes pile up around them * (last frame only in first round)
° High angle shot of the dolls discovering toys (mostly building blocks) scattered across the floor, including under the coffee table and sofa *
° Low angle shot of dolls constructing steps out of blocks to reach the top of the coffee table
Shot from behind the TV remote, showing the dolls clambering up onto the coffee table and the lead doll approaching the remote, arm outstretched
° A head-to-toe shot of the poet standing before the dolls. My own rough photoshop collage of the poet's avatar is attached, as a starting point
° Series of 2 high-wide shots pulling out from the living room into the giant factory that it sits within *
° Over-the-shoulder among the dolls and poet, taking in the vastness of the factory
