Custom App for aligning two point clouds (cloudcompare api?)
Budget: $250 – $750 NZD
I need a customized application that lets us manually align two point clouds, which are in a custom PCD format.
Key functionalities to be integrated into the solution:
- User selects 2 point clouds - 1. point cloud one (correct position) 2. point cloud two
- Let us manually align the two point clouds in a visual interface (perhaps CloudCompare API?). The first point cloud is the correct position. The second point cloud needs to be rotated/translated manually to the same location as the first
- Once aligned, the second point cloud must be saved with the new position
- It must be saved in our custom PCD format (.hairstyle) - with correct ordered headers and rows
Here is an example image of what the manual alignment functionality should look like https://ibb.co/ZMcXHdn
Note: the point clouds are the same size - so we don't need to scale. We just need to rotate and translate position.
This app should be built for the Windows platform.
Ideal candidates for this project will possess extensive experience in:
- Developing native applications for Windows.
- Working with point clouds, including alignment and visualization. Perhaps using CloudCompare API in python?
Attached is an example of 2 point clouds we would use in this process (point cloud 1 and point cloud 2), which are in our custom PCD format. The point cloud files are in PCD format, but have a .hairstyle extension. The app must load and save this .hairstyle extension.
