General security advice
Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD
We are performing research to gain a better understanding of how current general security advice is constructed. We also want to understand how the information from general security advice is prioritized and the specific processes that authors in general security advice take when creating the advice.
We wish to seek out general knowledge experts who have crafted and/or published general security advice for end-users.
We have two requests:
1. If you meet these criteria, would you be willing to participate in a 1-hour semi-structured interview or written questionnaire that will focus on your background with general security as well as your experience with practices involved in implementing general security advice? We will compensate you at the rate of $30/half hour in the form of a Visa gift card.
2. If you do not meet these criteria, but know someone who does, would you be willing to share their contact information or forward this message to them?
[NOTE: Interviews will be scheduled from 9 AM to 5 PM EDT (GMT-4) of 2021. Please ensure availability]
Before participating in the interview or questionnaire, we ask that you complete a screener survey to ensure eligibility and give informed consent. We also ask you to provide interview eligibility and sign up for a time slot if you participate in the interview process.
Participants must meet the following eligibility requirements:
1. Participants must be 18 years or older.
2. Participants must speak English fluently.
3. Participants should have prior experience creating general security advice.
4. Participants must have professional/academic credentials supporting they have performed work related to our topics of interest.
Participation in this research is completely voluntary and fully remote. Any information we collect will be de-identified to prevent no more than minimal risk.
Your anonymized results will be used to help professionals reflect on their practices for writing general security advice and identify solutions to improve the quality of general security advice.
