Data Communication – write a report
Budget: $10 – $30 CAD
The home Wi-Fi devices (in the $30 ~ $300 price range) are often marketed as Wi-Fi “routers” (layer 3 devices). Your teacher thinks this is not the right term. You can take your own position by researching to see if “wireless gateways” (layer 7 devices) may or may not be more appropriate.
Multiple sources (5 or more) are expected to be researched, analyzed, and synthesized. All sources must be cited using your preferred citation standards (e.g. APA, MLA, etc). You must write this report using your own words (after synthesizing and understanding your sources). Cut-and-paste or simply substituting words to avoid plagiarism detection will result in this section marked as zero (0). The plagiarism checking tool called TurnitIn will be used to check your submission.
You can use any resources, but you are expected to consult a few data/computer networking textbooks to understand the difference between layer 3 and layer 7 devices.
