Off-Grid System Compliance Engineer
Budget: £250 – £750 GBP
I’m looking for an experienced electrical engineer to support the design review, validation, and compliance readiness of our off-grid electrical system.
Project overview
• Product: Demountable pickup-truck camper (slide-in unit)
• Market: UK retail (consumer product)
• My role: UK importer acting as legal manufacturer
Target electrical architecture
• Battery: 24V LiFePO₄ with integrated BMS
• Inverter/charger: shore-power charging
• Solar: 800–1000 W roof-mounted PV
• Alternator charging: DC-DC charging, camper-side only (vehicle-independent)
• DC system
• Loads:
• Induction hob (up to ~2.3 kW)
• Microwave and 230V sockets
• 12V fridge, diesel air & water heater, pumps, lighting, fans, USB
What I’m looking for
• System design validation or optimisation (not over-spec’d)
• Wiring architecture, protection, earthing, isolation, and fault safety
• Input on compliance-critical risks (EMC, LVD interface, battery integration)
• Documentation suitable for:
• Electrical schematics
• Risk assessment
• Technical file support (UKCA/CE readiness)
• Optional: guidance on UK testing scope vs reliance on component certification
• One-line system overview diagram
• Factory-ready wiring pack (installer/build friendly)
The goal is a repeatable, production-ready electrical system that is safe, compliant, and commercially viable for a startup.
