Here’s a project description you can use to post a job for a forensic analyst, without mentioning any company names. You can adapt it for Upwork, LinkedIn, or other platforms.

Project: Forensic Email & Data Analysis for Ongoing U.S. Litigation
Objective
Engage an experienced digital forensic analyst / e‑discovery specialist to identify, extract, organize, and summarize electronic evidence (primarily emails and related documents) for use in an ongoing commercial dispute and litigation in the United States. The matter involves multiple parties, joint ventures, loan/equity disputes, and contract allocation issues over several years.

Background (High-Level, No Company Names)
There has been a long‑running business relationship between:
A U.S.-based energy/lighting/engineering group, and
Another U.S.-based engineering entity with operations primarily in one U.S. state.
The relationship includes:
Non‑binding MOUs, proposed equity swaps, and joint venture arrangements.
A dispute over a real‑estate stake purchase, including disagreement over whether funds were equity contributions or loan repayments.
Large energy/solar projects where there is disagreement over:
Which entity should have been the contracting party.
How profits should be allocated.
Multiple demand letters, settlement proposals, and a temporary restraining order (TRO) have been issued.
We now need to systematically mine years of email and document exchanges to support counterclaims and defenses.
Scope of Work
The forensic analyst will:

Data Ingestion & Setup

Work with us to securely ingest:
Email archives (e.g., Outlook PST/OST, Google Workspace exports, or similar).
Attachments (contracts, MOUs, term sheets, meeting minutes, etc.).
Help design a folder/tagging structure aligned to the dispute themes (e.g., loans, equity, MOUs, specific projects).
Search & Identification
Using forensic/e‑discovery tools, run targeted searches to identify relevant communications:

By participants (e.g., specific individuals on both sides of the dispute).
By topics/keywords, such as:
“loan,” “equity,” “stake,” “valuation,” “MOU,” “non‑binding,” “swap,” “release,” “settlement”, “TRO”, “profit share”, “CMAR” (construction manager at risk), etc.
Project‑related terms (e.g., internal project codes or client nicknames we will provide).
By date ranges corresponding to key negotiation phases (we will supply a timeline).
Filtering & Organization

De‑duplicate emails and threads.
Group and tag communications by:
Issue (loan vs. equity, contract allocation, profit sharing, project ownership, use of intellectual property, etc.).
Counterparty (different individuals/teams on the other side).
Create organized folders or workspaces that our legal team can easily review.
Output & Reporting

Produce:
A master index/spreadsheet (e.g., Excel/CSV) with:
Date/time, sender, recipients, subject, brief description, issue tag(s), and file path/reference.
Issue-based bundles (e.g., PDFs or export sets) to hand to our lawyers.
Optionally, prepare short narrative summaries of key email chains (e.g., “Thread showing agreement that funds were for equity purchase, not loan repayment”).
Coordination With Legal Team

Coordinate with our U.S. counsel (and, if needed, Indian counsel) to:
Refine keyword lists and date ranges.
Prioritize issues that are most relevant to the current pleadings and counterclaims.
Note: You are not expected to provide legal advice. This role is primarily forensic/data‑driven, with outputs tailored for legal use.
