Customisation of Health & Safety Management System
Budget: $250 – $750 NZD
Overview
We are a small engineering consultancy based in New Zealand and have purchased a generic paper-based Health & Safety Management System from a H&S provider. The content is broadly aligned with NZ regulations but may include some Australian references and generic material that need refinement. The goal is to tailor the system so it accurately reflects the company’s operations, risks, and compliance obligations.
Objectives
Review the existing H&S documentation and identify areas requiring modification, removal, or addition.
Customise policies, procedures, and templates to suit a small consultancy involved in both office and site-based engineering work.
Ensure all content aligns with the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 (NZ) and relevant WorkSafe NZ guidance.
Deliver a practical, easy-to-use paper-based system ready for staff implementation.
Scope of Work
Review and Gap Identification
Audit the provided H&S manual and supporting forms.
Identify and remove any Australian or irrelevant content.
Highlight any missing areas relevant to professional services and engineering work.
System Customisation
Identify (with assistance from client) which content to include or exclude.
Update procedures, responsibilities, and risk registers to reflect business activities.
Tailor templates such as inductions, incident reports, hazard registers, and training records.
Final Deliverables
Revised H&S manual and all supporting forms (editable Word format).
Skills Required
Demonstrated experience developing or customising H&S systems.
Experience with engineering or professional services organisations preferred.
Experience relevant to the New Zealand H&S sector preferred.
Timeframe
Approximately 2–3 weeks from project start.
