Pixel MMORPG with PvE and PvP

Job ID: 39024362

Budget: $1,500 – $3,000 AUD

I'm looking for a talented game developer who can create a retro 16-bit pixel graphics MMORPG with both PvE and PvP options. This game should be playable on both PC and mobile.

Key Features:
- Basic controls will include W, A, S, D for movement.
- Set in a tranquil town filled with creatures and mobs for leveling up.
- Character progression: Start from fighting chickens, then sheep, progressing to wolves, bears etc.
- Gear obtainable as you level up, with better gear for more dangerous foes.
- Skills development: Includes blacksmithing, carpentry, mining, woodcutting, fishing, archaeology etc.
- Equipment leveling: Picking up a higher level pickaxe, fishing rod, axe, etc.

In your bid, it would be great to see your previous experience with MMORPGs and pixel graphics games, as well as any ideas you have to enhance this project. Your creativity will be greatly appreciated!

Game World & Setting:

The game is set in a tranquil, picturesque town called Serenity Haven, surrounded by lush forests, peaceful meadows, and rolling hills. The town acts as a central hub, and is divided into several areas players can unlock as they progress through the game:

Starting Area: The Town Square where NPCs offer quests, sell basic gear, and introduce players to the world of crafting.
Forest Edge: Early enemies like chickens and rabbits that provide beginner loot and crafting materials.
Meadow Plains: Where sheep, wild boars, and smaller creatures reside. A great place to practice combat and gather resources.
Thornbrush Woods: More dangerous mobs like wolves, goblins, and bandits. New dungeons and caves open here for experienced players.
Ancient Mountain: A dangerous, high-level area home to bears, trolls, and other high-powered creatures. The best loot and rare materials are found here.
Mystic Springs: An end-game area unlocked after max-level crafting, full of high-level mobs, and hidden treasures.
Character Progression:
Combat System: As players level up, they can unlock new combat abilities, ranging from simple attacks to magical spells (e.g., fireball, shield bash, or healing).
Leveling: The more you kill, the more XP you gain. As you progress, tougher mobs will become available in different areas. Killing higher-level mobs unlocks access to more dangerous and rewarding zones.
Skill-Based Advancement: Players will have the option to level up not only their combat abilities but also their crafting and resource gathering skills.
Crafting Skills (Leveling System):
Players can gather materials from the environment, defeat mobs, or buy them from NPCs to level up their various crafting skills. This allows the creation of gear, tools, and consumables to aid in survival. Some of the skills could include:

Blacksmithing:

Leveling blacksmithing allows you to forge swords, shields, and armor. The higher your level, the better gear you can craft.
Tools: Hammer, Anvil, Forge.
Example: Crafting a basic iron sword at level 1, but progressing to mythril and enchanted blades as you advance.
Carpentry:

Craft bows, arrows, furniture, and decorative items for your home. Carpentry can also be used to create crates for storage or upgrade NPC buildings.
Tools: Saw, Hammer, Workbench.
Example: Start by crafting basic wooden bows, progressing to composite bows and traps.
Mining:

Extract ores and minerals from the ground, caves, and mountains. Higher levels allow access to rarer resources and more efficient mining tools.
Tools: Pickaxe, Shovel, Mining Cart.
Example: Mining stone and coal at lower levels, and unlocking magical ores like obsidian and moonstone at higher levels.
Woodcutting:

Chop down trees to gather wood for crafting or selling. The higher your level, the faster you can chop, and the rarer types of wood become available.
Tools: Axe, Hatchet, Woodcutting Gloves.
Example: Start with chopping basic trees and unlock enchanted forests for rare, powerful materials.
Fishing:

Fish for food, rare items, or treasure in serene ponds, rivers, and lakes. Unlock different rods and lures as you progress.
Tools: Fishing Rod, Lures, Fishing Net.
Example: Start fishing for basic fish, moving up to legendary catches like golden carp or magical creatures.
Archaeology:

Discover lost artifacts and treasure chests, learning more about the game world’s lore. Higher skill levels reveal hidden caves and ancient ruins.
Tools: Shovel, Brush, Excavation Kit.
Example: Start finding minor trinkets, progressing to legendary ancient weapons or gear tied to the game’s history.
Gear and Loot:
Gear progression is tied to both combat and crafting. As you level, you unlock:

Weapons: From simple wooden clubs to powerful enchanted swords, axes, and magic staves.
Armor: Start with basic cloth armor and upgrade to steel, leather, or magical armor.
Tools: Craft upgraded versions of mining pickaxes, fishing rods, axes, and other specialized tools.
Consumables: Potions, food, and scrolls that can buff your stats or heal you.
Loot can come from:

Mobs: Some creatures drop useful materials and gear.
Crafting: You can craft gear based on your gathered resources and skill levels.
Treasure Chests: Hidden or quest-reward chests offering rare loot.
Social Features:
Guilds: Form or join guilds to gain access to special guild-only crafting stations, dungeons, and PvP areas.
Market: A player-run market where you can sell crafted items, resources, and even unique gear.
Trade System: Barter with other players for rare materials and crafted items.
Events: Weekly events such as mob invasions or crafting contests where players can earn rare items or titles.
Art Style:
The game will have charming, retro pixel graphics with a soft color palette. Each area will have distinct visual themes: from the lush, green forests to the snowy, majestic mountain peaks. Animations will be fluid, and creatures will have unique designs based on their respective environments.

Music & Sound:
The soundtrack would be calming and atmospheric, using orchestral and chiptune elements to give the game a sense of nostalgia while keeping it relaxing and immersive. Ambient sound effects like birds chirping, the sound of wind rustling through the trees, and water flowing in streams would help players feel grounded in the tranquil world.
