UK Payroll & Shift Planner Development
Budget: £250 – £750 GBP
I’m commissioning a web-based solution that handles two tightly linked needs for my organisation: accurate UK-compliant payroll and an easy way for staff to plan and record their shifts.
Core scope
The system must automatically calculate gross-to-net pay, apply UK tax bands and National Insurance thresholds, and factor in statutory benefits and company perks in one seamless run. Employees will log their hours through integrated online timesheets rather than manual entry or a separate clock-in device; those hours should flow straight into the payroll run with no re-keying. At launch we only need to cater for full-time and part-time contracts, but the architecture should stay flexible so we can add freelance logic later if required.
Shift planning
Alongside payroll, I need a calendar view where managers can build rosters, publish them to staff, and receive real-time updates as employees submit timesheets. Any approved overtime or shift premium has to feed back into the pay calculation instantly.
Tech notes
• Cloud-hosted (AWS or Azure are fine)
• Friendly front-end UI; mobile-responsive for timesheet entry
• Secure role-based access, GDPR compliant storage
• Export files compatible with HMRC RTI submissions and standard accounting packages (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks)
Deliverables
1. Working application (source code + deployed instance)
2. Admin guide and user handbook
3. One live payroll cycle run with test data to prove accuracy
