Comprehensive Cybersecurity Product Teardown & Compare and Contrast Expert
Budget: $20,000 – $50,000 USD
Project Overview:
I am seeking a cybersecurity expert to support an initiative focused on evaluating and comparing leading cybersecurity tools. The contractor will be responsible for installing, testing, documenting, and analyzing various cybersecurity agents, scanners, and cloud security platforms. They will need to install on virtual machines within the AWS cloud, physical machines the contractor has access to of both Apple & Windows systems. The final output will include a detailed Word report with key insights and a PowerPoint slide deck with screenshots of dashboards.
Scope of Work:
1. Tool Selection & Setup
Collaborate with us to finalize a list of cybersecurity tools (e.g., CrowdStrike Falcon, Qualys VMDR, Tenable, Microsoft Defender, Axonius, etc.)
Procure trial licenses and coordinate with me for product access
Configure a secure testing lab environment (cloud and on-prem)
2. Hands-On Testing & Evaluation
Install and configure each tool
Test core functionalities: threat detection, vulnerability scanning, asset discovery, endpoint protection, etc.
Evaluate usability, workflows, integration capabilities, and performance
3. Documentation & Analysis
Capture screenshots of dashboards, alerts, reports, and configuration panels
Document findings in a structured format (e.g., feature matrix, pros/cons, technical notes)
Compare tools across key dimensions (e.g., ease of use, coverage, reporting, pricing, etc.)
4. Deliverables
Word Report: Detailed findings, technical comparisons, and strategic insights
PowerPoint Deck: Executive summary, visual highlights, screenshots, and key takeaways
Optional: Short video walkthroughs or annotated screen recordings
Ideal Candidate Profile:
5+ years of experience in cybersecurity (e.g., SecOps, threat detection, vulnerability management)
Hands-on experience with leading cybersecurity platforms
Strong technical writing and documentation skills
Familiarity with competitive analysis or product evaluation frameworks is a plus
Timeline:
Estimated 6–10 weeks per product
Work may be staggered or run in parallel depending on availability and tool access
