Modernize Access Commission App
Budget: $25 – $50 USD
I need to retire my old Microsoft Access commission-tracking database and move everything to a cloud-based interface that staff can reach from any browser. You will start with the full Access file (forms, queries, VBA, and data) and rebuild the same business logic online.
Two elements must make the jump intact:
• Customizable commission calculations that let me change rates, tiers, and effective dates without touching code.
• Built-in reporting and analytics so managers can slice results by salesperson, product line, and period, then export to Excel or PDF.
Beyond those, I’m happy to discuss best practices—user authentication, audit trails, or dashboards—if they fit naturally into the new architecture.
I have no fixed preference for the front-end stack; feel free to propose React, Angular, Vue, or anything else that will scale cleanly on AWS, Azure, or GCP. What matters is a clean, responsive UI and a well-structured back end (SQL or NoSQL, whichever you justify).
Deliverables
• Technical design outlining chosen stack, database schema, and migration plan
• Fully functional cloud application mirroring (and improving) current Access features
• Data migration script and one test migration run
• Brief admin guide plus user walkthrough video
• Source code in a private Git repo
Acceptance criteria
The migrated app must reproduce all existing calculations with identical results, generate the same standard reports, and remain performant with 10× today’s data volume.
If you enjoy untangling legacy systems and turning them into modern, maintainable software, let’s talk timelines and milestones.
The current system is small, DOS based (written in 1990. Developer is now 83 years old.)
