Structural Engineer needed for simple HEADER situation
Budget: $30 – $250 USD
Remodeling small 1960 home and want to eliminate about 12' (or 16') of support wall...by building new beam in attic. Or similar to what exists now in the attic, where about 6' or 8' section has wood boards attached from joists to rafters. This allows about 6 to 8 feet below to be OPENED UP.
We want to possibly do another 12' in the attic to allow the full 16' in house to ooen up.
Also could just do a steel or LVL header to span 16' even thought 8' if that is already strapoed up in the attic.
Maybe strap up the remaining 12' in attic and ADD minimal header below??
