Retaining Wall
Budget: $30 – $750 USD
The rear of my property has a 4 foot retaining wall that is made out of cinderblock, perhaps 20+ years old, and starting to fall apart. (see pictures).
I would like to either
A) Repair / strengthen it,
B) Build an additional parallel wall to reduce strain (thus creating a 'step')
C) Demolish, rebuild it, stronger and 2 feet higher.
I like the idea of B or C, which would allow me to increase the heigh of the wall, and further level out my rear yard (currently has a slope)
In my city, a retaining wall higher than 4 feet requires engineering. After reaching out to local landscaping contractors, none of them are able to do that service, or refer me to an engineer. Which is why I'm now here.
The city (Bountiful Utah) requirements:
(1) An engineered wall design stamped by a civil, structural or geotechnical engineer registered to perform work in the State of Utah. The design shall be specific to the site and not a generic standard design.
(2) A site plan showing the extent of cuts or fills that will be included with the wall. The City may in its discretion require that the site plan be certified by a registered surveyor or engineer.
