New Mexico PE Timber Bridge design

Job ID: 39718305

Budget: $10 – $60,000 USD

I need a New Mexico-licensed Professional Engineer to take responsibility for the structural side of a small timber bridge on Forest Service Road 439 in Carson National Forest, just north of Taos. The bridge is only partially damaged but the Forest Service will not release work permits until I submit a PE-stamped package.

Your scope is focused on two deliverables:

1. New Mexico-stamped structural calculations sized for a timber super-structure and its bearings, suitable for Forest Service review.
2. Signed and sealed repair drawings (PDF plus the original CAD file) that a contractor can build from without further clarification.

I can supply recent photographs, field notes, and any inspection comments we have, but there are no reliable “as-built” drawings, so you’ll be working from current site information. A site visit is necessary.

Expect the design to reference AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specs and the NDS for wood construction; feel free to recommend alternatives if you think they will speed approval. All stamps must carry your New Mexico PE number.

Timeline is flexible within reason, but the Forest Service would like the submission in hand within four weeks of notice to proceed. Let me know if that window is realistic for you, what information you will need up front, and how you prefer to structure milestones for review drafts and final stamping.

I’m happy to answer any questions about the site, load requirements, or submission procedures once we connect.
