Joist Strengthening Specifications
Budget: $250 – $750 AUD
I'm looking for detailed specifications to strengthen existing wood frame joists. This is to enable building under a house.
Requirements:
- Strengthening method: Sistering with additional joists
- Current joists are in good condition
At the moment. He’s got one 145 x 50 hardwood Joists which have are 2.35cm clearance to the floor, to achieve 2.4 m legal head height. We have to trim off the bottom of the joists by approximately 6 cm. then attach a 70mm PFC to them. The span is 3 m and the joist are supported by a 250 I beam. Would this be possible to maintain structural integrity ? If its. Doable, what would it cost for specs and engineering certificate? I can provide further details, pictures and plans
