Fairfax 5-Acre Rough Grading Survey
Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD
My 5-acre residential lot in Fairfax County, VA needs a complete rough grading survey to support a sizable garage addition. The end product must be detailed enough for immediate inclusion in county submission packets, architectural drawings, and construction planning sets.
Scope of work
• Field-verify the current boundary and capture full topography, delivering accurate elevation contours across the entire parcel.
• Locate and map all existing structures, driveways, utilities and notable vegetation/trees that could affect grading decisions.
• Produce a rough grading plan that aligns with Fairfax County requirements so I can submit it without additional revisions.
• Provide deliverables in both PDF and editable CAD (DWG or compatible) formats.
Acceptance criteria
The submitted plan must:
– Show clearly labeled elevation levels at the resolution required by the county.
– Identify the footprint of the proposed garage addition in relation to setbacks and existing structures.
– Include a legend and north arrow, scale, benchmark references, and the surveyor’s certification/seal.
Schedule & logistics
I’d like field work completed within one month of award and the finished drawings no later than one month after the site visit. Site is accessible by paved road, and I will be on hand to unlock gates and point out utility connections if needed.
