Civil 3D Highway Alignment Update
Budget: $250 – $750 AUD
We have a road infrastructure design project (South Western Highway) that has been completed to a 5% design level. To progress this to an 85% submission for Main Roads Western Australia (MRWA) approval, we need a highly proficient Civil 3D professional to modify the geometric design model to comply strictly with MRWA drafting and engineering standards.
The primary technical objective of this task is to reverse the existing alignment direction so that the chainages increase correctly in accordance with the established Straight Line Kilometre (SLK) direction, while seamlessly managing all downstream dependent objects.
Key Responsibilities & Scope of Work
Alignment Reversal: Reverse the existing alignment for South Western Highway, ensuring that chainages/stationing increase properly according to the MRWA SLK direction.
Dependency Management: Rebuild, recreate, or reattach all associated Civil 3D elements affected by the alignment reversal to ensure model stability.
Profile & Profile Views: Update or recreate the design profile and profile views assigned to the newly reversed alignment, ensuring all vertical geometry, stationing, and labels display flawlessly without errors.
Sample Lines & Cross-Sections: Review and update existing sample lines (or generate new ones if required) and recreate/regenerate the cross-sections to ensure they correspond accurately with the revised chainage direction.
QA & Compliance Check: Perform a rigorous quality assurance check on the final alignment, profiles, cross-sections, and label sets to confirm perfect consistency and adherence to MRWA submission standards.
Required Skills & Experience
Civil 3D Expertise: Advanced, expert-level proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D (managing complex alignment and profile dependencies is crucial).
Standards Compliance: Direct experience with Australian road design frameworks, specifically Main Roads Western Australia (MRWA) standards and drawing guidelines.
Workflow Integrity: A methodical approach to troubleshooting CAD models; you must know how to cleanly handle or recreate profiles and cross-sections rather than relying on a simple, automated "reverse" command that breaks labels and data shortcuts.
Software Environment: Must have access to a stable, properly licensed version of Civil 3D.
