Network Troubleshooting Project

Job ID: 34196489

Budget: $30 – $250 USD

Case Study:
Your team has been selected as the consultant for a manufacturing company, headquartered in
Putrajaya. The company recently was having problem with their internal network and the
management require your team to investigate and troubleshoot the problems accordingly.
Upon investigation, you had found out that the company did not have their network design and
configuration properly documented. With lack of resources, you need to proceed with the
investigation and one of the important tasks is to get the overview of the company’s network
design.
Section A: Reverse Engineering & Troubleshooting
1. From the physical setup, you know that all PCs are connected to department switches
before going to the routers. Based on the startup configuration and routing table obtained
from all routers (refer to Appendix A), analyze all the output and draw out the network
design topology for the existing network by using Cisco Packet Tracer software. Configure
the network according to the startup configuration document.
2. You have found out that some of the department sub-networks could not ping to each other.
Research and document the problems faced by the existing network. Troubleshoot the
existing network with proper recommendation of troubleshooting methods, tools and
process. Suggest the solution for the derived problems of the network.
3. Correct the problems and ensure all connections are fully working by using Cisco Packet
Tracer software.
Section B: Recommendation to upgrade the network
1. Based on your findings in Section A, your team has recommended the organization to
upgrade their network settings & configuration without changing their current design. Your
suggestion should include these areas:
a. Public and Private IP with DHCP implementation.
b. Ether Channel
c. EIGRP or OSPF Protocols
d. VLAN (Virtual LAN)
e. HSRP (Hot Standby Routing Procotol)
f. IP Summarisation
g. CHAP or PAP Router Authentication
h. ACL (Access Control List)
i. NAT or PAT
j. Ipv4 and ipv6
k. STP (Spanning Tree Protocol)
* Provide your own assumptions on the departments, number of PCs, IP address used, etc.
whichever required supporting your recommendation. The assumptions must be clearly stated

in the documentation. Include critical discussion and provide justifications for each of your
implementation proposal.
2. Design the proposed network diagram (logical design) of the company’s network and
configure the upgraded version of the network by using Cisco Packet Tracer software.
