Long-Range Distance Sensor

Budget: $250 – $750 NZD

I need a custom distance-measuring sensor that can reliably detect objects at ranges greater than 10 m. The core deliverable is a working design—hardware plus firmware—that I can take straight into prototyping and small-scale production.

At a minimum the solution must:
• Measure distance beyond 10 m with consistent accuracy
• Provide a clear digital interface (UART, I²C, or SPI) for downstream processing
• Operate from a low-voltage DC supply common to embedded systems
• Include full documentation: schematic, PCB layout files, firmware source, and a brief test report

Feel free to propose the most appropriate technology—LiDAR, time-of-flight, radar, or an innovative hybrid—as long as it meets the range requirement and can be assembled from readily available components. If you have an existing reference design that can be adapted, please mention that in your bid along with any performance data.

Milestone acceptance will be based on a bench test that reproduces your stated accuracy across the full range.
