Half-Bridge Converter Circuit Design & Simulation

Consider the half-bridge converter given in the figure below with parameters L = 690 μH, R = 5
mΩ, VDC/2 = 600 V and Vs = 400V. Perform the following for this half-bridge converter:
a. Develop the switched model in circuit simulation software.
b. Develop the average model in circuit simulation software.
c. Derive the transfer function of the converter.
d. Design a PI current controller to result into a closed loop bandwidth of 100 Hz.
e. Choose a suitable switching frequency for the controller designed in part d)
f. Run the following simulation cases with both models while the converter is delivering a
power of 4 kW:
i. Step change in Vs by 5%
ii. Step change in VDC/2 by 5%
iii. Step change in the current set point by 10%
g. Repeat the cases in part f) if a first order measurement filter for the current with time
constant 2 msec is added to the system and compare with results of part f)
h. If it is required to track a sinusoidal current with magnitude of 50 A and frequency of
50 Hz:
i. Simulate the performance with the controller designed in part d)
ii. Simulate the performance with a PI controller designed for a bandwidth of 1000
Hz and compare with the results of h.i)
