Develop a wireless counter and timer controller system
Budget: $3,000 – $5,000 CAD
Looking for engineering support to develop a wireless counter and timer controller system with the following specifications:
PCBAs:
Multiple PCB assemblies required to meet mechanical constraints
CAD files, raw manufacturing files, and initial testing documentation
Wireless Connectivity:
Wi-Fi (2.4GHz / 5GHz) module supporting adhoc network setup and webserver-based configuration
Bluetooth module for audio streaming (Spotify-compatible)
STM32/NXP module preferred, alternatives considered based on security/performance trade-offs
Microcontroller:
Separate microcontroller from wireless module
Preference for NXP or STM32 family
Firmware Development:
Firmware for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, battery management, and audio switching
Integration of app control for wireless configuration and basic scoreboard settings
Physical button inputs integrated into firmware for manual control
OTA updates
Source code delivery, compiled binaries, and validation test plan included
Audio Support:
Aux input (analog)
Aux input (USB-based)
Bluetooth streaming (acts as Bluetooth speaker)
Wi-Fi streaming (via app)
Microphone input with acceptable 10ms delay
Power and Battery:
11.1V, 48.84Wh lithium-ion battery
Runtime: 4–6 hours under standard load, 3 hours full volume streaming
Charge time under 6 hours
Battery level indicator via LEDs
LED Display:
Red LEDs visible in direct sunlight
Brightness adjustable
EMC-safe brightness control design
User Interface:
Physical input buttons or switches directly on the unit for basic controls
Full app-based control via smartphone for advanced settings and input selection
Environmental Protection:
IPX4 water resistance
Outdoor/indoor operation capable
No top sealing or conformal coating planned
Compliance Standards:
Design prepared for FCC Part 15, EN 300 328, and related standards
Documentation for certification support included
Quick start guide and instructions manual:
Create simple functional instructions manual
PCB Design Requirements:
Easily procurable components in North America
Full BOM with sourcing recommendations
KiCad experience preferred but flexible
Ideal Candidate:
Expertise in wireless systems (Wi-Fi and Bluetooth)
Experience with battery-powered, outdoor-rated products
Familiarity with low-voltage EMC compliance practices
Strong PCB and embedded firmware development background
UI/UX understanding for physical controls and app integration
Certification and safety experience
Able to produce comprehensive testing documentation
