Urgent - Short Thesis Film Cinematographer
Budget: $750 – $1,500 USD
My name is Andrew Mohrman, a film student at SUNY Oswego, and I am filming my student thesis short film this week; a psychological thriller called “The Ash Man”. My cinematographer had to leave the project at the very last minute and now I urgently need a cinematographer who can bring both camera and creative eye to set. The film shoots for just five days between October 28 and November 2, all at a pre-determined location in Freeland, Pennsylvania with plenty of beds, should you need to spend the night.
I’m working on the shot list now, but you’ll still be able to provide your creative input. Because time is extremely tight, I’ll need you to arrive Tuesday morning with a complete camera package you’re comfortable operating. I have a handful of panel LED lights and two fresnel lights, as well as a tripod.
Shoots will be long, both day and night, but will rarely have to travel to a new location and food will be provided every day of the shoot. Additionally, most of my crew dropped so it is currently only me you’ll have to work with, not counting the actors. As long as you’re present with a camera and filming, we should have no problems.
As this is a student production, there isn’t much in terms of a budget. I currently have $1,000 set aside for a cinematographer but as I am desperate, I’m willing to negotiate.
I have no ideal fit, but if you have experience with drama and/or thrillers and willing to work on a short timeline with a student budget, you are the perfect candidate.
If you’re available for these exact dates and willing to work under these conditions, please reach out to me ASAP. If you can provide some samples of your work that shows your lighting and camera skills, that would be great, but at this point, it’s not required.
