Reflective Migrant Culture Short Film
Budget: $5,000 – $10,000 AUD
I am producing a short, documentary-style film that captures the personal stories and experiences of young adult migrants building new lives in Australia. The finished piece should run 8–10 minutes and carry a reflective, emotional tone that invites viewers to empathise with each journey while still feeling grounded in the everyday realities of settlement.
The project needs end-to-end support: shaping the narrative arc, identifying and interviewing two to three participants, filming on location (homes, workplaces, community spaces), and weaving their voices together with complementary B-roll and a subtle original score. Authenticity is critical, so consent procedures, cultural sensitivity, and minimal staged direction are non-negotiable. I am open to cinematic or vérité-style visuals, as long as the pacing remains intimate and the storytelling flows naturally.
Deliverables
• 1–2-page treatment confirming storyline, interview questions, and shot list
• High-resolution raw footage (interviews + B-roll) in LOG or flat profile
• Edited master (8–10 min) in 4K, graded, with clean audio mix
• Subtitle (.srt) and 1-minute social trailer
• Project files (Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut) for future tweaks
Acceptance criteria
• Narratives centre exclusively on young adult migrants and feel genuine, not scripted
• Emotional tone achieved without melodrama; pacing keeps viewer engaged throughout
• Final export meets broadcast standards: 3840×2160, 25 fps, 48 kHz audio
If you already have access to cameras capable of shooting in 4K and can manage a lean production crew, this assignment should fit comfortably within a three-week timeline from treatment approval to final delivery.
