Film Steam & Diesel Trains

Job ID: 40496323

Budget: $250 – $750 USD

I’m producing a children’s documentary that celebrates the magic of BOTH steam and diesel locomotives, and I need fresh, cinematic footage to anchor the story. The visuals must feel immersive and family-friendly, so please plan to film at three kinds of locations: bustling train stations, open countryside tracks, and behind-the-scenes workshops where the engines sleep and get serviced.

To keep the edit dynamic, I will rely on these shot types:

• Close-ups of the trains (wheels chuffing, diesel vents, nameplates)
• Wide landscape shots that place the locomotive in its scenic setting
• Action shots of the trains in motion, conveying speed and power

Balance is important—steam and diesel engines should receive equal screen time.

I’m after clean, well-lit footage recorded in a high-resolution format (Full HD or higher), delivered as organised clips with basic shot notes so my edit team can drop them straight into the timeline. Natural live sound (station ambience, whistles, horns) is a bonus; no need for interviews or narration.

If you own stabilising gear, sliders, or a drone and can operate safely within rail regulations, mention that when you respond. I’m flexible on filming dates but would like everything wrapped within the next four weeks.

Looking forward to seeing your reel and discussing the logistics of track access, permits, and travel.
