Drop the Base
Budget: £250 – £750 GBP
It is a project about the semi-autonomous construction of the Martian habitat, construction with minimum intervention. I want to simulate the creation of an aggregation system, by dropping (or pushing) multiple elements, so they form a jammed structure. I want to simulate it in Martian gravity conditions (1/3rd of Earth's gravity).
I also want to control the dropping process, at least a dropping path, the size of a dripping area, and the number of elements per second. Kind of like in 3d printing we have g-code, size of the nozzle, and speed. Just instead of filament, there are geometrical elements, dropping under certain gravity conditions.
I need to simulate different geometries, so the system should be flexible in a way, that I can use any geometry I want to run the simulation.
Ideally, I also would like to gather data from these simulations, for example, the number of elements that are in contact with each other, the "density" of the structure, or the surface contact areas.
I attached a picture with different examples of aggregation systems, from brick assembly to self-assembly. I want to test different geoemtries in the creation of simular, aggregation systems.
