Need a food scientist or chemical engineer specializing in food processing

I package corn husks for tamales. I currently buy them from a processor that treats them with SO2. I would like to start processing my own husks however I need some guidance as to the best method for treating the leaves to whiten them and prevent mold and fungus from growing on them.
