My vessel’s main propulsion is a single large-frame diesel engine and it has begun to run hot after only a few minutes at cruising power. I need a seasoned marine mechanic or mechanical engineer who can quickly isolate the root cause of the overheating and map out a reliable fix that I can carry out in-situ.

You will receive the engine make, model, service history, recent temperature logs, and pictures of the current cooling-water and lube-oil circuits the moment we start. From there I am expecting:

• A systematic troubleshooting plan tailored to this engine, including the order of checks (raw-water flow, heat exchanger fouling, thermostat, seawater pump, oil cooler, sensor calibration, etc.).
• A concise root-cause report that explains why the temperature is climbing, backed by calculations or measurements where relevant.
• A parts and consumables list with sourcing notes.
• Clear step-by-step repair or adjustment instructions that I can follow on board, plus any test procedures to confirm the fix.
• If the first pass does not resolve the issue, a follow-up decision tree to rule out secondary faults.
