I’m developing a new bentonite-based cat litter and need a formulator who can maximise clumping ability without sacrificing overall product stability. Your task is to engineer a recipe—complete with carrier clay selection, moisture profile, and additive package—that delivers fast, firm clumps, breaks down minimally in transit, and pours with a low-medium dust plume.
I operate under basic environmental and health expectations: no heavy-metal contamination, fragrances must be pet-safe, and airborne respirable dust should remain comfortably below common household exposure limits. Beyond that, you’ll have creative freedom to choose binders, odor neutralisers, or grain size distributions that best achieve the clumping target.
Please share examples of past formulations or related R&D work you’ve done in the litter, absorbent, or mineral processing space. I’m especially interested in data showing clump strength, liquid absorption rates, or consumer feedback you helped gather.
Deliverables will include:
• A full formulation sheet with ingredient percentages
• Lab notes outlining processing steps and critical controls
• A small pilot batch protocol so I can replicate results in-house
Once I validate the lab-scale tests, we can discuss scale-up support as a follow-on milestone.
